Catholic priests have never hidden their love for the bottle.
But how they buy the drink is the latest concern for an Embu based bishop.
Bishop Rev Paul Kariuki has warned these men of God to keep off tithe and offering from the congregation to buy alcohol.
Rev Kariuki appealed to the priests and preachers to safeguard that money and ensure it is used to propagate the work of God as intended.
“Nowhere is it written that one must take alcohol. If I had my way I would decree that from today henceforth people should not take alcohol. When I come for pastoral visits I will first check in your houses to see if there are bottles of beer stashed there,” he told the priests.
