A man who dressed like the Virgin Mary and danced to Madonna song during the Las Palmas Drag Gala competition in Grand Canaria has sparked widespread outrage from Christians. Bishop Francisco Casas was especially offended by the man’s seemingly unflattering mimicry of the Virgin Mary and even said it was worse than the 2008 Spanair plane crash that killed 154 people.
And in an unprecedented twist, the Bishop is now on the receiving end for comparing what the dancer did to a plane crash that killed so many people. The victims’ families are up in arms.
A prominent Bishop has come under scathing attack after he appeared to belittle a plane crash that claimed 154 lives and left hundreds of families severely heartbroken and grieving.

It all started when a man, known as Nelson Rodrigues and nicknamed Drag Sethlas, showed up at the Las Palmas Drag Gala competition in the Grand Canaria dressed like the Virgin Mary and danced to Madonna’s ‘Like A Prayer’.
The rather unflattering mimicry of the Virgin Mary quickly sparked public outrage across Spain with thousands of believers calling for Rodrigues’ prosecution.

Among those traumatised by the absurd act of mimicry was one Bishop Francisco Casas who said it was worse than the Spanair plane crash that killed 154 people in 2008.
“I am sometimes asked what have been the happiest and saddest days of my time in the Canary Island, and which day has been the saddest. Until now I would say the day of the accident in Barajas involving the plane bound for Gran Canaria. From today, I will say that I am living the saddest day of my time in the Canaries,” Bishop Casas allegedly said.

Video footage of the offensive performance immediately hit the internet, prompting even more backlash and getting the attention of the Association of Christian Lawyers who immediately launched calls for Rodrigues’ prosecution by collecting 25000 signatures in petition.
But in a quick and an unprecedented twist of events, the tables were turned and Bishop Casas became the point of focus after his ungodly remarks on the 2008 plane crash victims.
“It wasn’t just 154 people who died. We are now dead in life, condemned to fight a system that has victimised us still further by denying us justice and truth, as well as wounding us with worlds like yours,” Pilar Vera, head of the association of crash victims, said in reaction to Bishop Casas’ comments.
“If you have forgotten the victims, then do so completely and avoid mentioning them,” the seemingly agitated Vera continued.
It is not yet clear whether or not Bishop Casas has responded to Vera and the families of the 2008 plane crash victims who may have equally been offended by his remarks.
