The gospel industry for sure needs prayers. Most of the current lot have gone astray and their music no longer make sense. They produce songs totally different from what we believe gospel music is.
Not so long ago, comedian Jalang’o called out gospel singers asking them to churn out new content as Kenyans were tired of their nonsensical music.
“WE NEED TO BRING BACK THE CONTENT THAT IS GOSPEL MUSIC. THERE IS NOBODY WHO CAN TELL YOU IN THIS HALL MORE THAT JALAS MWENYEWE BECAUSE THERE IS NOWHERE YOU WILL TAKE ME!” HE SAID.
Adding;
“LET US RECLAIM, REBUILD AND RESTORE GOSPEL MUSIC.”
Well, Willy Paul and Bahati, the once-upon-a-time darlings of the gospel industry, no longer sing what they used to, nowadays, their music is mixed with secular and it’s rare to tell the genre. The two have done collabos with secular artistes from different parts of the world and the question many always ask is, what happened to the gospel industry?
Singer Hopekid, has released a new jam dubbed Perfect, which has received mixed criticism from his followers. According to many, it doesn’t sound gospel but who are we to judge? Only God can.
