Shall we start with the KSh 25 million Mercedes s500 he owns after receiving it from members of his Ministry of Repentance and Holiness church? Or the convoy of vehicles that accompany him everywhere he goes?
Speculation time…could he be funded by his foreign partners who accompany him on his globe-trotting tours? A foundation by the name John Templeton is said to fund him.
6. Thomas Wahome
This ninja of the Helicopter Church Ministries made news when he accused Mwingi Central MP Joe Mutambu of stealing his lorry estimated to be worth KSh 3.3 million.
In 2014, he claimed to earn KSh 40,000 a month from his work in the church but reports had it that he raked in millions of shillings a month.
His ex-wife revealed that the pastor got 500 visitors a day who parted with KSh 10,000 before seeing him and that he charged them KSh 3,600 if they wanted to know if their names are written in the book of life. He drives a Range Rover Sport and has a fleet of other cars in his name.
7. Pastor Kanyari
What would this list be without Kanyari? He, of the 310 seed money, is almost completing the construction of his multimillion shilling mansion along Kangundo Road.
Seems being exposed for being a fake miracle worker did not stop him as it was reported he drives, among other cars, a Range Rover and a Toyota V8 with a combined price ranging around KSh 20 million.
8. Pius Muiru
It was reported that in 2007, he, of the Maximum Miracle Center, allegedly raised KSh 100 million to vie for the top seat in the country. I don’t think I need to say anymore, do I?
9. Mark Kariuki
From the grandiose nature of his wedding to his second wife, we can only speculate as to how wealthy this Overseer of Deliverance Church is worth.
His wedding was attended by 6,000 people and held at the Kasarani Gymnasium. It took five catering companies to cater to all his guests as 300 VIPs were attended to at Safari Park. The ball park figure of renting the gymnasium is KSh 20,000 and hour- and Mark’s wedding apparently took seven hours.
Kariuki also has interests in King’s Academy School, King’s Medical Center, Homologeo Industries which involve body products, tailoring and poultry projects.
10. Maina Njenga
The former Mungiki leader found Christ and began a church, the Hope International Ministries based in Kitengela. You can only imagine the uproar this caused considering Mungiki is behind numerous unsolved murders in Kenya. His wealth, however, is a cause for wonder.
It is said he could be worth KSh 2 billion and counting. He owns property in real estate as well as land in Kajiado, Laikipia, Mombasa Road and Nyandarua all totaling about 33,000 acres. Did I forget to mention he has a house neighboring CORD leader Raila Odinga? He is said to own three Range Rovers and an American Hummer all totaling to about KSh 52 million.
In January 2016, police had to ban his birthday party after he had invited 10,000 people to attend as he turned 47-years-old. The Star reported he’d had five bulls and 21 goats slaughtered for the party. It was canceled because it was believed he was using it as a front to invite former sect followers.
