The incident occurred barely a week after popular comedian Ayeiya lost his life through a tragic road carnage.
Gilbert, who is famed for his massive hit ‘Salama’ was on Friday, April 21 2017 involved in a horrid road accident in Bamburi, Mombasa. The singer, who also works as a medical practitioner met his foul fate while on his way home from work. Gilbert was badly hit by a speeding motorcycle as he was crossing the road. The accident left him with serious injuries on the head.
However, the ‘Salama’ crooner was rushed to a nearby hospital where he received treatment before being discharged. ‘’I was almost at my place when a motorcycle hit me while crossing the road.I don’t know what happened but it seems the bodaboda rider lost control and veered to my side, hitting me badly.’’ Gilbert said on phone interview.
The singer said the bodaboda rider was ambushed by a mob that wanted to deal with him thoroughly but he was forced to stop them since the lad was also injured in the accident.
